I returned to Texas today from my trip to New York State where my sister and her enormous family live. She has 10 children and 13 grandchildren so far. It is quite a change from my quiet life when I am around all of them. The children are quite entertaining, making us laugh. The weather was perfect and we sat outside alot.
Their produce is abundant and we ate lots of fresh vegetables. My favorite of course is sweet corn. There are Amish farms close by and the corn sells for $2.50 - $3.00 a dozen with an extra thrown in. It was so yummy and tender.
The family picked green beans one morning. Everyone participated in preparing them for canning. It was fun to do even though I must admit picking is a bit backbreaking.
