The Color of Fall

Have you ever noticed how many flowers are yellow or gold in the fall? Many of the wild flowers blooming right now are.
The Swamp sunflowers that help disguise my dog pen ( the one my dogs rarely actually use) are fabulous this week. One of the local Master Gardeners gave me a start years ago. The plants spread incredibly fast and by fall are 8-10 feet tall. They are very easy to pull out of the garden when they get out of control so I don't mind them being rambunctious.
My scarecrow is sporting a couple of sunflowers in her apron.
