I say it was the weather that put a bit of spunk back in me because we were on the go the whole time. Donna has ten children and 15 grand children so it is wild and crazy all the time.
The cabbage were enormous. In fact everything was huge compared to what grows in my gardens.
Our haul for the morning was very pretty!
We picked green beans two mornings starting about 6:15 in the morning. It's light so early there. My sister cans and this year her goal is to put up 60-80 jars of beans. She is now up to 32. Half her plants are just starting to produce.
I ate great veggies with every meal. The Amish grow the best sweet corn and I was lucky it was just starting to be picked. We had it 3 times. It is delicious. I even got to attend the annual Amish dinner one evening.
All the married nieces and nephews grow gardens too. Their little ones know what everything is and help where they can.
Jeff and Rachael's garden was the most amazing. Not one weed!
And of course there was a new baby to hold. I had such fun.
It is so beautiful there!! The plants are amazing! I'm glad you enjoyed a refreshing visit with your sister and family. =)
ReplyDeleteI don't know how close they are to Buffalo, but I fell in love with that place two Octobers ago!

The first thing I noticed in the top picture were the giant cabbages. That is just too unreal! What a gift..of a life, of a vacation. Ahh..simplicity. I love it. Thanks for sharing this.
